Modern Slavery Statement

COPE has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. Version 1.2, effective 1 October 2023.

Version 1.2 · Effective 1 October 2023

n

This statement is made by COPE Occupational Health Services Limited with reference to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. While COPE’s annual turnover falls below the £36 million threshold at which such a statement is mandatory, we are committed to acting ethically and voluntarily set out our approach here.

n

Our commitment

n

“Modern slavery” encompasses slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking. COPE has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery, and we are committed to acting with integrity in all of our business relationships.

n

Our safeguarding policies

n

A number of internal policies help us guard against modern slavery in our operations and supply chain:

n

    n

  • Recruitment and Selection — including verification of eligibility to work in the UK and safeguards against human trafficking.
  • n

  • Whistleblowing — enabling staff to report concerns without fear of retaliation.
  • n

  • Code of Conduct — setting out the standards of behaviour we expect.
  • n

  • Supplier Code of Conduct — setting out our requirements of suppliers.
  • n

  • Procurement Policy — built on responsible, sustainable principles, with provision for audit.
  • n

n

Managing our suppliers

n

We operate a preferred-supplier system with mandatory due diligence. Suppliers are required to confirm their conformity with all of our relevant policies, and any breach may result in immediate termination of contract.

n

Training and awareness

n

Personnel involved in procurement or recruitment receive training on the Modern Slavery Act 2015, so that they can recognise and respond to potential risks.

n

Raising a concern

n

Concerns should be reported to line managers and escalated to senior management as appropriate. Investigations are conducted with appropriate confidentiality protections, although in some circumstances an individual’s identity may need to be disclosed — for example, where this is necessary for disciplinary action or legal proceedings.
